SPY PICS: Porsche 911 GT3 sans camo
All-new track-focussed 992-series 911 GT3 caught testing in its element
The next-generation Porsche 911 GT3 has been spotted track-testing overseas with barely-there camouflage, ahead of its yet-to-be-announced global debut.
This racy test mule was spotted lapping Germany's Nurburgring following the aborted global launch of the Porsche 911 Turbo S last month, after it was teased earlier this year in the background of a Superbowl advertisement.
The precise rollout of the 20-plus variants within Porsche new 992-series 911 range is uncertain given the COVID-19 shadow over the automotive industry.
However, the Turbo flagship and GT3 racer-for-the-road derivatives will be followed by Targa, GTS and GT2 versions of the new 911.
The 2021 Porsche 911 GT3 emerges complete with two large air intakes atop its bonnet (in place of the previous GT3's single horizontal vent), giant brakes behind centre-lock wheels, dual exhaust outlets and a large rear diffuser.
At the rear of the blacked-out GT3, a massive wing is attached to the boot lid and appears to offer manual adjustment options, while the lower portion of the front-end offers up even more air inlets.
We already know the 2020 GT3 will most likely be powered by an upgraded version of its predecessor's naturally-aspirated 4.0-litre flat-six engine, which should be good for up to 400kW.
Like the model it replaces, the new Porsche 911 GT3 should be available exclusively with a seven-speed dual-clutch PDK automatic transmission, but we haven't given up hope for a manual to return.
